Bible Study App Reviews

This Bible software is amazing, especially with the Retina updates. However, I really need a keyboard shortcut for moving focus to the search bar. I mean the “Enter Bible Verse or Topic” search bar. In most Apple applications (example: Mail), you can use Cmd + Option + F to move focus to the main search bar. You can also use Cmd + F to search within the current view. It’d be great if Olive Tree added support for both. I’d also like a Highlight keyboard shortcut, so I can select a verse (highlight with my mouse) and press Cmd + Option + Shift + H (or something) to highlight it with the “default” highlighter.

Olive Tree Bible Study is one of the most essential and exciting bible tools in my toolbox.

I use this app. I use it to study, to read, and when I teach, I use it on my pad with the notes below the passage. With each iteration, the interface and usability continue to mature. The steady development encourages my purchases of commentaries and tools. I also have Accordance and Logos on my devices. But this is the program I actually use daily.

I use this app almost on a daily basis and love just about everything about it. There is one feature that I really wish Olivetree had. There is no “wishlist” option when browsing through the store. So there is no way to save a book or Bible resource for future reference.

Since their latest release fixed these issues I will again award it five stars. About six months ago the app started randomly freezing or crashing. Tech Support has tried to help but the problem still remains. I have deleted and reinstalled the App, to no avail. This makes any significant bible study difficult since these are freq occurrences. I put in another tech spt chit but if this cannot be fixed I’’ be forced to look at other bible programs. What a shame. Update: Tech support told me to wait for a new update they were be releasiing in the future??!! However, now the app refuses to recognize any of the references both those I paid for and the free references. It pops up a box saying link on this link to register the reference. When I do this - nohting happens!! While I was happy with this product in the past and annoyed in the recent past, I am quickly becoming very irrate over the deterioration of this app and the lack of tech support or even concern. Now, I have a worthless app so I cannot do my work. While the iPhone/iPad apps are convenient they are not especially helpful for professional indepth study like the computer (this is true of almost all apps). I will update this review should there be a positie outcome. Until then, Do Not Use this app. They finally have an update to fix the latest issue of Reference #1002; therefore, I have increased my rating to 3 stars. Now, if they could only fix the longer term unlying issue of frequent random crashes then they would return to the fine product they had before the updates. Obviously, they need a better testing methodology before releasing updates to eliminate those that cause significant problems rather than improve the product.

I have used this for the last several years. With each update it keeps improving and has becmoe incredibly beneficial.

I paid $14.99 for the ISV Bible addition. After downloading the ISV bible, the study app was corrupted by the ISV install and now refuses to work at all. I can only download Version 6.0.8 study app which requires me to upgrade my Mavricks 10.9.5 to Sierra. Seems the ISV bible addition broke my working study app and now I have a gun to my head to upgrade to the latest OS X version. I was not warned this would happen and I am painted into a corner because of incompatibilities between the study app and the bibles offered from Olive Tree. What a hassle with no recourse as a user. Don’t get this app as you will have to jump through hoops the Olive Tree developers don’t tell you about.

I have used this app for years and it only gets better. The free resources are good, and the paid ones make it better (esp. since they charge reasonable amounts unlike some other apps of simililar variety). I really like being able to quickly compare texts and find Biblical scholarship on every verse. Havng a parallel version on my iPhone just makes this easier to use when not in front of my computer.

I love this app, use it all the time for research, book writing , Church, and devotions; and its a million times cheaper than logos!! They are very responsive and supportive and have even created my request for a dark theme. Worth your investment. 2004 worth of product will get you what cost over 1000$ with Logos. Yes, this is for serious theological, university, and pastoral use as much as lay use.

This is my go-to app for teaching/preaching. Love the ability to highlight the text different colors, add sermon/teaching notes, and sync it all between devices. Truly a God-send. Only bummer is syncing from desktop to iPad is just a pain most times. Always seems to be a substantial delay between a change made on one device (i.e. desktop) and then appearing on the mobile (i.e. iPad). But here’s to hoping that sync could be made faster & more reliable :)

i love the ease of the mobile app better, but all and all this is one of the better free Bible apps that I have experienced in years. I have been with Olive Tree Bible Study for years and probably will be with them for years to come. Only rated 4 stars because i can t figure out how to copy and paste more than one scripture like on the mobile app.

This app works on all my devices and I use it every day. I love the reading plans, Bible Translations and study resources (love the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge). Great app to use for linking translations to Greek and Hebrew using Strong’s Concordance. Love the notes available like Dake’s.

Nothing is better then carrying an entire library of commentaries with me everywhere I go! Very powerful app

This is a great program, offering affordable access to a wide array of translations, and most of the important original language resources. I use it all the time! It has become my go to app for sermon preparation and writing.

I use the Olivetree Bible Study App all the time on my phone, iPad and Mac. I have used Olivetree for over 15 years on every platform immaginable—from my first “Palm Pilot”, to a Windows phone, to iOS to native Mac. It has been my “go to” app for personal Bible study, sermon preparation and even public teaching. Fantastic app I have come to understand the bible much better. I can look up topics and explore them in depth. This is a resource that I can not live without.
